St. Martins De Pores – The second annual three point contest was held Saturday evening at St. Martins De Pores gymnasium located in the town of Poughkpeesie. In all, over 40 athletes competed in three divisions. Edge Athletes took home first and second place in each division. “It’s a great event. Chris Fields does a great job getting kids involved and giving them something competitive to look forward to,” said Jim Santoro. “I couldn’t make it this year due to prior commitments, but I’m not surprised that Edge had a good showing,” he added. Edge athletes have demonstrated tremendous commitment to developing their skills not only during the season, but outside of it as well.
Stanley Garrant and Jon Stumberg took first and second place respectively in the fifth and sixth grade division. Alex Strom and Dan Viani represented Edge in the seventh grade division, placing first and second respectively. And Kyle Flanagan championed the eighth and ninth grade division, with Justin Rhynders placing second. “It’s no fluke. Their results are efforts of hard work,” Santoro said.
Congratulations to all of the competitors and winners!
