Development Program

Edge Athletics offers a development program for those AAU sessions that participate in tournament play. It is intended for all athletes that did not make a team or cannot make the full commitment. The development program provides a practice environment for those athletes wishing to work on improving their skills.  It is open to 11u, 12u, 13u, 14, 15u and 16u divisions.  Each member will have the opportunity to attend every scheduled practice (with the exception of special tournament preparation practices) with their designated age group.

Scheduled practices will be listed on the website calendar.

Only those athletes that have already completed an Edge Athletics application are eligible.  The fee for the program is varies depending on the session.  If you are interested in participating in this program, please use the “contact us” link indicating such.  Payment can be made at the time of the first practice.

Frequently asked Q & A’s:

Q. Do you have to try out for the development program?
A. Yes. The development program is for those athletes that either were not selected for the full roster but were skilled enough to benefit from our practices or could not make the full commitment required. Therefore, any athlete that wishes to participate in the development program must be evaluated during tryouts or on another day that can be arranged.

Q. Do those in the development program play in any of the tournaments?
A. No. Those athletes in the development program will only participate in the scheduled practice sessions.

Q. Do those in the athletes in the development program need to purchase a uniform?
A. No. Since those athletes registered in the development program will not participate in tournament play, there is no need for a game uniform.

Q. Will the athletes in the development program receive the same level of instruction as those on the roster?
A. Yes. All athletes in the development program will be treated just like all of the other athletes as far as practices are concerned. The only difference between development and roster athletes is game participation.

Q. Are the development athletes required to attend every practice?
A. Although we strongly encourage all of the athletes to attend every practice session, one of purposes of the development program is for those athletes that cannot make the full commitment.

Q. Does an athlete in the development program need an active AAU membership card?
A. Yes. Although the athlete will not be playing in tournaments or games, an AAU membership is required. The membership provides the proper insurance to practice in our gym.

Q. What is the tuition for the development program?
A. The tuition is 1/2 of the tuition for the full program.
